Paradise Is Not Lost | Alila Vilas, Uluwatu, Bali

This place takes your breath away – there really is no other way to describe it.  I feel cheesy-as-hell writing that statement as it’s such an overused cliche – but my golly, it’s true.

I’m going to start with a disclaimer, all the images you see here are my own. They’re not from a brochure and they are not the work of a professional photographer.

They’re all mine (or my husbands). It’s just that this must be the most photogenic place in the universe – the Kendell Jenner of the hotel world so to speak – and it is impossible to take a shot of something looking less than perfect. As soon as you arrive at the hotel your jaw literally drops. You’re welcomed at the open air lobby with a cool drink and your eye is instantly drawn to the view across the 50m infinity pool to the ocean below. A birds nest style cabana clings to the cliff top providing the perfect place to sip on cocktails and enjoy the sunset.

The rooms, or one-bedroom Pool Villas to give them their proper name, are hands down the most stylishly beautiful hotel rooms I have ever had the pleasure to stay in.  They come complete with a huge bed (we’re talking 7ft wide), iPod dock, flatscreen TVs, funky coffee maker… the standard 5-star fodder. But there’s more… The whole side of the room opens up to a large plunge pool with its own miniature version of the main pool cabana. The bathroom is the bathroom dreams are made of with a huge tub, walk-in shower AND outdoor shower, plus they really know how to spoil you with toiletries. His and Her products from the hotel spa are beautifully placed into His and Her vanity units. We’re talking, Sunscreen, Shampoo, Conditioner, Lip Balm, Bath Oils, Shower Gels, Face Masks, Moisturiser, Body Lotion – they consider everything. around hotelIf you can find it in yourself to leave your villa – and with 24hr Butler Service, there’s little need – the main complex is just as beautiful too.  Everywhere you look you’ll see landscaped grounds; ocean views; water gardens and unique buildings.

The service is amazing – discreet and friendly.  The food is delicious (if a little pricy – but it is 5 star); and the spa treatments, divine.  The food highlight for me was the breakfasts – it was Tapas style – so you could get lot’s of little tasters – Bircher Muesli; Pancakes; Eggs Benedict…As a massive breakfast/brunch fan it was great to not have to commit to just one dish!

My husband and I had the most amazing time here and whenever we think of paradise or somewhere we want to be  – this is the first place we think of.

We know we will return some day.

Are you booking a honeymoon?  Where’s your paradise?  Let us know (we’re nosy like that!)  xx
