Wedding Dress Wednesday | Jenny Packham

Any wedding dress collection inspired by a land of fairies (the collection is named A Midsummer Night’s Dream) is going to conjure up images of soft floating fabrics; romanic tulles; twinkling embellishments and an overall ethereal feel. And who better to create this sort of collection than British designer Jenny Packham.

Given the enduring popularity of the Esme gown introduced in 2013, the latest designs definitely seem to use the embellishment and look of that dress as inspiration. In fact, we predict that Hermia will be the 2016 Esme…

The latest collection features lots of heavy embellishment and metallic detailing but it still remains very soft and wearable.  What’s more we only counted two strapless dresses in the whole collection proving the trend for sleeves is here to stay for another few bridal seasons yet.

I personally love the drama and modern feel of Hippolyta, featuring long embellished sleeves which I think would be amazing for a winter wedding – the slightly spiky embellishments look like icicles (It’s a way, way,way toned down Lady Gaga dress – way toned down but you’ll see what I mean…)

However, for Wedding Dress Wednesday this week, and given we’ve already shown a lot of love to metallics recently, we chose…..

Imogen.

At first the dress looks really simple – but look again and we love the plunging neckline the pleated detail and the beautiful embellishment around the waist.  The way the fabric drapes effortlessly over the body we know this will be light and easy to wear. Perfect for Brides who don’t want long trains and heavy gowns to contend with on their big day.

Whisper and BlushWhat do you think to Imogen?  Do you love the latest Jenny Packham collection too?
