As the name of our blog suggests, we do love a bit of blush… which is why we are delighted that hues of pink continue to feature heavily on the runways. From the frothy creations of Alexander McQueen to the chic pink coats of Prada (which had us reminiscing about the M&S pink coat Britain went crazy for in 2013) there’s no denying that the pretty colour is here to stay.
And what’s more – we LOVE pink wedding dresses. Ranging from the softest blush (so subtle some people may not even notice) to bright and loud, the colour is perfect for any Bride who wants a twist to the traditional white gown. In fact, a number of celebrities have opted for pink. Who can forget the dip-dyed John Galliano creation worn by Gwen Stefani (so iconic it even featured in the recent V&A Wedding Dress Exhibition)? Or more recently the Giambattista Valli gown worn by Jessica Biel when she married Justin Timberlake. Other brides to rock pink on their big day include Anne Hathaway in a custom subtle pink Valentino gown; Reese Witherspoon in Monique Lhuillier; and as far back as 2008 Portia de Rossi picked a blush tulle skirt by Zac Posen for her wedding to Ellen DeGeneres.
As these Brides all prove, there really is a shade for everyone and what’s more, sometimes a pink shade can be a lot more flattering than stark white. Our picks include the beautiful blush Inbal Dror gown we already featured for a Wedding Dress Wednesday post; a twinkling tiered number by Monique Lhuillier; a pink tulle mermaid dress by Pronovias and the delicate Peony gown by Ivy & Aster.
