Our mission when we started Whisper & Blush was to showcase the dresses and bridal fashions that get the most buzz and love across social media channels. Which means from time to time we’re going to stumble across something so beautiful, so shareable; but sadly not always easily available. And we’re afraid to say that for UK brides-to-be, that’s the case with this next designer. At the moment there appears to be no UK stockists with the closest store in Switzerland!…(please give us a shout if you know otherwise) However, the collections are so beautiful that we wanted to share for inspiration anyway (and who wouldn’t fancy a cheeky city break to Zurich if push came to shove?!)
So here’s there image that we saw:
Beautiful isn’t it? Tulle perfection. We are obsessed with the delicate illusion neckline and shoulder detail with the pretty floral appliqués It’s would be perfect for a summer wedding, giving a soft and romantic feel.
What’s more, this is just as stunning from the back.
How beautiful is the v-shaped back, the tiny ribbon detail and the way the dress gently flares away from the body?
So who’s this dress by and what’s the design, we hear you cry? Well, this is the Hayden dress from Christos Bridal’s Spring 2016 collection.
Christos Bridal was created in 1984 by Cyprus-born designer Christos Yiannakou. When he retired in 2005, Amsale took over as creative director. While the Amsale collection (another Whisper & Blush fave, and also sadly not readily available in the UK) is viewed as more modern and fashion forward the Christos collections sit alongside to, “evoke a feeling of natural beauty and romance”.
The gowns all feature intricate detailing – hand beaded belts, refined lace hems and hand crafted silk flowers. The collection is all very soft and romantic, using layers of tulle, silk and lace. Christos designs are also especially known for their use of Alençon lace, or point d’Alençon, a type of needle lace created in the French town Alençon, a small town in Normandy, that began manufacturing lace in the sixteenth century.
It’s also worth pointing our that Christos gowns have featured in various movies such as 27 Dresses starring Katherine Heigel, The Accidental Husband, starring Uma Thurman and My Best Friend’s Girl starring Kate Hudson.
