From Catwalk To Aisle | New York Fashion Week

While we don’t want to blow our own trumpet too much *just a little bit*, we couldn’t help but feel a little pleased that two trends we’ve already featured in our Catwalk to Aisle posts have continued to feature on the runways of New York Fashion Week – 3D Florals and Fringing

We’re delighted that this is a trend set to continue, as after all, if any item of clothing can get away with embellishments, it’s a wedding dress.  Be it floral embroidery; feathers; ruffles; and fringing there was no doubt that intricate detailing made a huge impact on the 2016 collections. We were particularly taken with the stunning layered tulle dress by Badgley Mischka (#4) and love the peek-a-boo effect of the floral appliqués and baby-blue ombre colour. In fact, this would make a perfect wedding dress alternative for a bride after something that little bit different for her big day.

For brides looking for a wedding dress with a nod to the Spring/Summer 2016 shows we recommend  Vintage, a sexy flared wedding dress from the Atelier Pronovias 2016 collection. Made from Chantilly lace and tulle it features a stunning sheer illusion  bodice embellished with lace appliqués and gemstones. The lace mermaid skirt is overlaid with a soft tulle flared layer which gathers at the waist. We think this makes for a beautiful, soft romantic look and would be perfect for a summer, English garden wedding.

We are also huge fans of Riki Dalal and love this 3D Floral Wedding Dress from the latest Valencia collection. We really love how this particular gown strikes the perfect balance between sexy and demure. The full tulle skirt gives a princess feel, but the sheer bodice with floral embroidery provides a grown-up twist. The scoop-back and cascading flowers over the tulle train adds drama to the back of the gown.

Anyone who’d like their Bridesmaids to rock a textured, embellished dress should check out the gorgeous Enaya Lace Peplum gown from BCBG Maxazria. The pale blue dress features a flattering round neckline, a deep-V back and floral embroidery and sequin details across the bodice.

For those with a smaller budget (or more bridesmaids to dress) we also love the Rubin Maxi Dress by TFNC which is not only less than £40 – it features embellishment and a high halterneck   – a neckline which also proved popular at NYFW with designers such as Oscar de la Renta.
