Here we go, yet again not featuring a dress on Wedding Dress Wednesday. But we’re all about the unique and twists to the traditional over here. It’s also important to remember that the “traditional” wedding (big white church wedding) is in decline and brides are increasingly marrying abroad; having civil ceremonies; entering into same-sex marriages (so happy we live in country that celebrates this!) or even opting for low-key (yet high in romance) elopements. There’s also women who, ‘just don’t do dresses”…
…Which is where House of Ollichon comes in. House of Ollichon is the first dress-less bridal collection offering brides and bridesmaids a range of luxury jumpsuits, playsuits and combos all handmade in England. The idea behind the label was dreamt up by owner, Hannah Ollichon who had her own, ‘big wedding’ in France, complete with her big dress but found a huge gap in the market for stylish outfits to wear back in the UK for the registry service to legalise the marriage.
Our pick this week is the Lockwood jumpsuit made with very fine Italian crepe fabric and a lace corset from the Dentelle™ region in France. This warm blush jumpsuit features flowing trousers, a corseted top, blush bra straps and a narrow waistband. Not only do we think this makes a perfect piece for saying, ‘I Do’ in; we can even see brides opting to change into this during their reception to let their hair down (quite possibly literally) and dancing the night away!
We are also super excited to say that Hannah has agreed to be featured in our “Interview with…” segment, so we will be showcasing even more of her beautiful designs and understanding the inspiration behind them next month – keep your eyes peeled!
