It’s official – it’s time for new clothes.
Okay, so we probably say that at least 3 times a week when digging around trying to find something to wear for the day – but now with the weather getting colder and the nights drawing in earlier it’s even more evident. In particular we’re finding it hard to find appropriate Occassion Wear.
My husband will no doubt point to all the dresses I have hanging in the wardrobe, some worn only once (some still with tags – *ahem*) and disagree. However, none of them seem to work that well this time of year. They were fab at summer weddings when it’s easier to carry off bright colours and pastels (pastels may as well be Nude when without a tan!). They were great when there was no need to worry about whether tights are needed. And somehow, floating around in a maxi dress (we like to think we float…) just doesn’t work when having to navigate puddles.
So with an event this weekend and little time to get to the high street we turned to the web and when “researching” what to wear we also thought we’d pull together some of our favourite picks for anyone else like us who’s left things to the last minute. You’re welcome…

LOVE the colour of this Self Portrait dress at ASOS – who says winter clothes need to be black! The scallop edges and peekaboo lace placements add interest and texture.

Another bright burst of colour to brighten the day (while still being balanced by the black bodice). We’ve had “a thing” for high-low hems since we saw the new Mrs Clooney wear a stunning high-low, floral embellished Giambattista Valli Couture dress to lunch the day after her wedding.(Check out our blog post on Amal’s Wedding Week style here)

We know, we *keep* banging on about 3D Florals, but Hey!, when you really love something… The cut of this dress from Finery London is so flattering and the green colour is perfect for this time of year.

We’ll be honest, we rarely venture into Next (sorry!) but the winter floral pattern on this fit & flare dress is really pretty – and could probably be teamed with black tights for extra cold days (yey!)
