Considering our blog is only around 5 months old we were super shocked to have been shortlisted down to the Top 10 blogs for, ‘Best For Bridal’ at the 2015 Cosmo Blog Awards. (Super shocked and super proud!) Apparently there were 67,000 nominations this year!
Knowing that we would be in a room full of super stylish fashion and beauty bloggers we did get, ‘outfit anxiety’ and had a few nerves around what to wear – but we got there in the end! Kate opted for her Ted Baker Raul Dress which was actually her bridesmaid dress for my wedding (see, you can wear bridesmaid dresses again!) and a leather jacket from Warehouse. The dress was from 2012 (is that vintage?) but the jacket is current. I chose to wear a black jumpsuit by ASOS (which I bought last year, similar here), the ASOS Hampton Heels and a burgundy cape which is also by, yep – you guessed – ASOS (Can you tell I prefer to shop online!…)
We were staying in the King’s Cross Premier Inn, which is so well located tucked away on a quiet (well, quiet-ish for the area!) street close to the station (so not far to lug our stuff) and near to some great restaurants (more on that later). I arrived well-ahead of the check-in time at about 07:30am (I had meetings to get to!) The staff were really friendly, looked after my bags for the day and wished me luck for the evening. They were so friendly and genuinely interested in the event.
As we both had meetings in town during the day, we had planned to meet at the hotel after work, have a couple of drinks at the bar and then spend some time getting ready in our room. However, things never go quite to plan, so with meetings over-running, we were a little pressed for time and had to rush! We were grateful for the 3 large mirrors in our room which made it easier for the two of us to get our faces on without the need for a fight. (Seriously, I love Kate and all, but if she were to get in the way of my makeup routine….)
The venue for the Cosmo Blog Awards was One Marylebone and it was our kind of party! There was an open bar (boom!) serving delicious cocktails made from Blossom Hill Belle Blush Rosé (the sponsor of the event); and lots of great canapés. We shouldn’t have worried too much about the rush to get ready – Make Up Forever were there to do people’s makeup and Remington were on hand to style hair using their new Curl Revolution wand.
While we didn’t win our category (and didn’t expect to) we had a great time meeting all the other lovely bloggers and taking in the great atmosphere.
After the event we headed back to King’s Cross to go to Camino – which if you haven’t been is a GREAT Spanish restaurant with delicious food and a buzzy atmosphere. We probably ordered too much (who doesn’t do that with Tapas?!) and drank a celebratory Cava before tottering back to our hotel. (Where we dived straight into our goody bags! But that’s a whole other post!)
After a great night’s sleep (Premier Inn’s really do have the most comfortable beds. Ever!) we went down to breakfast where we enjoyed our poached eggs on toast to fuel us up for the day.
We had a fab time and want to thank Cosmo and everyone who nominated and voted for us. We also want to shout out to the lovely ladies from Bespoke Bride who were highly -commended in our category and Phoebe from So You’re Getting Married who was the winner. Congratulations!
Our stay at the Premier Inn King’s Cross was free of charge for the purpose of this blog and our vlog. All opinions are our own. While we are affiliated with the brand, we genuinely always recommend Premier Inn hotels to people especially when it comes to looking for accommodation for weddings and events. You get a very comfy bed, a clean room, friendly staff and a cracking ‘morning after the night before’ breakfast! What more do you need?!
