Red Carpet to Aisle | Golden Globes Inspiration

Award season is underway (yey!) and what a great way for brides-to-be to get their big day inspiration. We took inspiration from the red carpet dresses of the recent 2016 Golden Globes to bring you a guide to the popular looks that can be applied to your wedding dress.

Capes proved to be a popular look on the red carpet this year with J-Lo stealing the show in her marigold Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown with a ruched waist and high-slit.  Saiorse Ronan chose Yves Saint Laurent Couture with a caped train and Taraji P Henson opted for (you guessed it) a caped Stella McCartney gown.

For Brides who want to rock a cape on their big day we’d recommend taking a look at Pronovias  where both the Verona  and Maxima  dresses feature dramatic cape details.

Or for something a bit different, how about a striking jumpsuit like The Bouilly by House of Ollichon?

Metallic Shimmer

… We’re fans of a bit of metallic (check out our dedicated post here) and it’s a look that never seems to fail on the red carpet.  Julian Moore stunned in a long-sleeved navy blue gown; Brie Larson opted for a body-hugging golden Calvin Klein number and Portia Doubleday totally rocked a disco-ball inspired mirrored Naeem Khan dress.

Our first recommendation for any Bride who wants to glitter on their big day is to check out the Midsummer Nights Dream collection by Jenny Packham.

The Plunge…

… When done right (without flashing anything else!) plunging necklines strike the right balance between sexy and sophisticated as expertly demonstrated by Jamie Alexander in her low-neck Genny dress; the beautiful Jenna Dewan-Tatum in Zuhair Murad and Olivia Wilde in her plunging Michael Kors number.

Our plunging picks for the more daring bride include Inbal Dror and Galia Lahav
