It may be the height of summer  (well, at the time of writing the sun is out!) but for the fashion-savvy, August is the time to start thinking about cooler weather and planning out stylish key buys needed to see through the autumn/winter. After all; the September issue of Vogue has landed with reviews of new collections and trends that will be winging their way to the great British high-street in the next few weeks.

While the bridal season works slightly differently to the ‘fashion’ season there’s still plenty of cross over and opportunity for 2016/ 2017 winter brides to remain ‘on trend’ and incorporate these looks into their wedding wardrobes – be it through their accessories; show stopping hen-do outfits; beautiful bridesmaid dresses and even *THE* wedding dress (although do remember many designers need a 6 month lead time so you’d better get shopping soon!).

In true W&B style, we have summarised the key catwalk looks that would not look out of place at a wedding and over the next couple of weeks will bring you ideas as to how you can incorporate these into your big day style.  We hope you enjoy!

TREND 1 : A TOUCH OF SILK…

..the 90’s lingerie trend seen this summer continues with silk dresses, tops and jumpsuits. Alberta Ferretti sent their models down the catwalk in silk PJ-style outfits way too good to stay in bed in and DKNY used a lot of silk worn in a tomboy-style way giving off a cool laid-back nineties vibe.

TREND 2 : THE VELVET UNDERGROUND…

… Alway an A/W favourite, wearing velvet lends itself to the gothic romance look (why not check out a previous feature which will STILL be on trend now!) Gucci, Roberto Cavalli and Preen all used this sumptuous fabric with dramatic effect in their autumn winter collections.

TREND 3 : A STICH IN TIME…

Dramatic needle work and exquisite embellishments adorned many a collection with heavily embroidered clothing ruling the catwalks from outerwear; to evening dresses to accessories.

TREND 4 : ICE ICE BABY…

… Jewellery is anything but understated this winter.  Think full-on Tiaras, shoulder dusting earrings, jewel encrusted bags and shoes. Basically the message coming through loud and clear is not to hold back!

Whisper and BlushWe don’t know about you, but we cannot wait to embrace these latest looks and pull together some bridal ideas for you!  Happy Shopping all! xx
