Arm Candy | Special Occassion Handbags For Any Budget

Maybe you’ve received an invite to a winter wedding, perhaps you have a work do to go to or a family Christmas event… Whatever the occasion there’s always an excuse for a new handbag!  We’ve pulled together our favourites so you could treat yourself;  or even drop heavy hints to Santa…

picmonkey-collage-2From Left to Right starting from the top…  Nothing screams Christmas or Party (or Christmas Party for that matter) like gold glitter. Saint Laurent’s classic ‘Monogramme’ bag is now available in a  glitter-covered canvas. This is the sort of statement bag that does all the talking. | Saint Laurent | Monogramme

A small cross body bag is always a good option for a party as you can sling it over you shoulder and forget about it.  Leaving your hands free for throwing shapes on the dance floor or helping yourself to the canapés!  We love the Belted Mini Pushlock bag by British brand The Cambridge Satchel Company and you can even personalise the bags with embossing your name or initials on it. | The Cambridge Satchel Company | Mini Belted Pushlock |

In my opinion BVLGARI have come out with the most exciting bag launch of the year. The bejwelled serpent head clasp on their Serpenti Forever bags is as beautiful as any piece of jewellery from the brand.  In fact, I view these as a jewellery/handbag hybrid. This beautiful red would pop against an all black outfit (please Santa, I’ve been soon good this year 😉 ) | BVLGARI| Serpenti Forever Metallic Shoulder Bag

If you’re getting married (or want to buy a gift for a bride-to-be) how about this cute coin purse clutch? The pale blue beads that read ‘Wifey for Lifey’ can even count as the ‘something blue’. | Sophia Webster | Wifey For Lifey Clutch |

Big trends for this party season are velvet and embroidery. Well this cute clutch bag from ASOS nails all these looks in one.  We particularly like the fact this a large, roomy clutch bag so you can definitely fit in your camera, makeup, iPhone Plus… | ASOS |Premium Velvet Clutch |

Now if anything was a dupe for the  Chloe Faye (a bag very much on my Wishlist!), it’s this number by Misguided which comes in a whole thousand pounds cheeper than the real thing! Great if you want to ‘get the look for less’. |Missguided | Navy Thread Through Clutch Bag | £25

For a while I felt that Mulberry had lost it.  They hadn’t launched anything that exciting and I felt that they were starting to play silly buggers with their pricing .  Well, I had to eat my words when walking past the Mulberry Concession in my local John Lewis the other day, they really have upped their game with their designs  (and it’s now possible once again to own a bag from this iconic brand for less than £500). This Selwood emerald green bag is stunning and would look great this time of year.  It would look equally as good at a party or an event as it would slung over your shoulder for a day of shopping.| Mulberry | Selwood Crossbody Bag |

Becoming a Mum recently has opened my eyes to the amount of crap that you need to cart around, even if you’re “travelling light” you still need to take a load of stuff with you, even for a quick stroll to the corner shop.  I recently discovered the brand Tiba + Marl on Instagram and fell in love with the fact they really do create changing bags that you’d be happy to carry (A lot of brands say that. These are the only ones that really mean it!) Their Etta Changing Clutch is a stroke of pure genius.  A glitzy gold bag complete with changing mat and room for nappies and creams! Game Changer! | Tiba + Marl | Etta Clutch

Yes, we have a thing for glitter, and cross body bags… but if your budget won’t stretch to Saint Laurent how about this pretty saddle bag from Topshop? Love the tassle detail and the fact it’s big enough to fit all the bits in you need for a night out (unless you’re bringing a baby… then see above!) Topshop | Mini Saddle Bag | £16
