When you start planning a wedding in the UK one of the things you’ll notice is how few venues have the option for an outdoor wedding. Yeah, yeah. We know we don’t have the same climate as those Californian ranch style weddings you see on Pinterest, but there’s something just so beautiful about the idea of getting married under a string of fairy lights in an outdoor location. And ever the optimists, we DO get beautiful days in the UK and who doesn’t like to make the most of them?
When staying at Moddershall Oaks recently (see the post all about our stay here) the lovely Events Coordinator, Olivia gave us a tour of The Venue, the wedding facility at Moddershall. One of the main selling points is their outdoor space. Situated in 72 acres of picturesque woodland, on the edge of a private lake, the fully licensed pagoda really is a magical and unique place to tie the knot.
And if you don’t want to get married outside or would rather just hold your reception at The Venue; the indoor space is pretty great too. With room to comfortably accommodate 130 guests, there’s a decorative glass bar; a lounge area to welcome guests; and moveable walls to tailor the space to your needs. It’s essentially a blank canvas for you to style to suit your theme. We were really impressed with the state of the art audio visual facilities which give you the ability to play different music at different levels throughout the venue to suit the desired ambiance. And we’ve never seen so many options for different coloured mood lighting if so desired!
Moddershall Oaks have a great selection of banqueting packages for you to tailor your wedding day food and drink choices to your tastes. While we didn’t try any of the wedding specific menu, it is made in the same kitchens as the hotel restaurant which as you can see in this post, we were really, really impressed with. The Evening Reception hot and cold choices are no after thought either, Moddershall has your evening guest covered with everything from a buffet, to a Hog Roast and even putting on a BBQ in their secluded courtyard.
A big part of your wedding day is the getting ready and being part of a spa hotel, Moddershall Oaks really have this sorted. The Snug is a private suite in the hotel which can be hired out so you and your bridal party can be pampered and preened on the day of your wedding. With nail stations, fantastic natural lighting for makeup and a hair station for hairdressers to work from, it would be a great place to prepare – especially with a glass of fizz or two!
Another HUGE selling point is that as part of the wedding package, you and your other half get a mini-moon. Instead of waking up the morning after your wedding and making your way home – you can keep the excitement going and spend your first day as newlyweds in luxury, sipping bubbly in the outdoor hot tub and making full use of the facilities in their indoor and outdoor spa.
If you want to check out the wedding facilities yourself, then Moddershall Oaks have an Open Day on 23rd April (more details here). We really recommend Open Days as it’s an opportunity to look around, see what the venue looks like when it’s “dressed” for a wedding, meet with local suppliers and get great ideas and inspiration.
Highlight? The option to have your ceremony outside; The Snug area available to hire out for pre-wedding pampering; The mini-moon included in the venue hire price
Great for? Couples who have dreamt of an outdoor woodland wedding
