So you’ve been invited to six weddings this Summer all of which you are really looking forward to, but the big question you’ve been asking yourself is “what on earth do I wear?”
Back in the day (pre-social media which now counts as ‘back in the day’!) you could wear the same dress to multiple weddings where the guests were a different crowd, however now that everything is Instagrammed within an inch of its life, that dress that’s only had one wear seems like it’s been worn twenty times!
So with one of the Summer 2017 trends being ‘modern ruffles’ (alla Vogue), I jumped straight online and ordered what I think is the ultimate Summer wedding outfit. It’s perfect for a British wedding (when you’re not too sure what the weather will do and don’t want to be too hot or too cold), but equally it wouldn’t be out of place at a chic Italian vineyard wedding!
I love the cut-out sleeves and the loose style mainly because you could eat whatever you wanted at the wedding breakfast, dance the night away and at the end of a fabulous day and night not feel uncomfortable! I teamed it with a red belt to get more shape but it still looked good without it.
I also styled it with a classic straw hat for a more sophisticated look but what’s great about this dress is it also worked being a bit more edgy just by putting my hair up in a top knot (and of course rocking the obligatory sunnies!). In fact I don’t go anywhere without my Ray Ban Folding Wayfarers because they fold up to fit in any clutch bag (and baby changing bag!)
I kept the shoes white, simple and mid height but more importantly chose a chunkier heel. This is important for a Summer wedding in Britain because if it doesn’t rain on the day you can bet it had rained the day before, and the last thing you want is your heels ruined from being stuck in the mud (trust me when I say this happens!).
Finally, the best part about this dress is the price…an absolute steal at £35! So if you do have more than a couple of weddings this Summer then this certainly won’t break the bank!
