Cactus Wedding Theme |Succulents and Cacti

Cactus Wedding Theme Mood Board

Is it me, or has the world gone a little crazy for succulent terrariums? (That’s cacti in a fancy glass dome for you and I… I didn’t know the “posh name” until recently myself.) I’ve seen them all across my Instagram feed; my Pinterest…-there was even a segment about making your own on This Morning recently ( a not so guilty pleasure of mine).

It did however, get me thinking that cacti would make a great alternative to more traditional flowers for you big day.  They even have the advantage of lasting longer so you won’t have that sad moment when your bouquet has gone sludgy and stinky and you HAVE to admit defeat and throw it out (can’t just be me?!) So without further ado, here are our fave ways to incorporate succulents and cacti into your big day styling.

How fab does this rustic table look decorated with potted cacti, perfect for a laid-back boho vibe. (Image Source: Green Wedding Shoes)

A naked cake always looks modern (and delicious) and can easily be jazzed up with an addition of a flowering cactus on top. (Image Source: Wedding Chicksalso check out this amazing blog post to see an adorable donkey in a floral crown…)

Display the table number on a cactus stump, stalk, leaf…? (I’m not sure of the correct naming convention for cacti parts! – But I do know it sure looks good!) (Image Source: Style Me Pretty)

I’m always a fan of a funky buttonhole and look how great these look. They just make me smile. (Image Source: The Natural Wedding Company)

In my book, Churros are always a good idea  -especially served with chocolate dipping sauce.  How cute would these cactus-shaped ones be for an evening buffet? (Image Source and recipe: Haut Appetit)

How amazingly creative is this bridal bouquet featuring cacti, foliage and succulents? I love the way it looks so perfectly imperfect. (Image Source: Pinterest via MelissaJill)

If the bouquet above was too ‘rustic’ this arrangement takes a more traditional shape while the succulents provide a very modern twist.  I love the colours and textures and think this could make a great bouquet for bridesmaids. (Image Source: Tara Guerard)

I love how well succulents pair up with brighter blooms.  The vivid pink in this centerpiece provides a fabulous pop of colour.  This display would work really well for an outdoor/festival-vibe wedding. Stunning! (Image Source: Bespoke Bride)

A novelty shoe is a guaranteed talking point.  How fab are these cactus shoes designed by Man Repeller? You can even remove the optional silver ankle straps for versatile styling. These are exclusive to Net a Porter and available here.
