I’m going to start this post by emphasising that this is not about losing weight, it’s about fitness, firming and feeling fierce! (Okay enough from the school of Tyra Banks) but you get the idea!
I’ve always loved the feeling of being fit and the endorphins that are released when you’re working out are addictive. I’m also not a massive fan of the gym, (I have nothing against gym bunnies) but to me it’s boring, oh and smells of sweat! It has to be outdoors or competitive or both!
The main activities I enjoy are running, badminton, golf (when I have the time), and yoga (I don’t need to do this as often now because my arms are becoming more sculpted just from carrying around my 9 month old!). To me it’s about feeling stress-free, healthy, and challenging my body, oh and there is nothing like the amazing sleep you get following a workout.
I wanted to write this post today because whether you’re having a Summer wedding or Winter wedding, now is a great time to start getting fit, particularly outside, whilst the mornings and evenings are still light (the pics below were taken on my run last week, how can you not love running outside with this scenery #nofilter).
You don’t need to run for long at first, and the best way to start is to do a run, jog, walk pattern. If like me, you need motivation, then apps like RunKeeper are great for keeping you on track and you get addicted to beating your last time (plus it’s free so saving on the wedding budget!).
My key motto though is everything in moderation. I love a glass (/bottle) of wine, I love chocolate and I love a good old burger! So don’t beat yourself up if you haven’t got as fit as you like before your wedding or your so called ‘wedding diet’ never happened (not recommended!) because you know what, a happy, healthy bride is far better than a moody, stressed out one!
