Did anyone ever watch that TV Show, ‘Girl Meets Cowboy’? I think we’re probably going back ten years or so but my goodness it was great. It was basically a dating show, like the Bachelor, but the lead male was a real-life cowboy that wanted a wife (okay, reading that back it does sound a bit sexist…) Anyway, I loved it. I hoped for another commission so I could go on it but sadly (or luckily, depending on your viewpoint) it never happened. I mainly loved the show because I love the idea of a cowboy. Rugged, handsome, can ride well (horses! – get your mind out of the gutter….) and no doubt puts on a darn good BBQ (pulled pork is a weakness of mind. Again? Gutter. Mind. OUT!)
There is a point to this ramble – country and western, rodeo style fashion is so “in” this summer. Think tassels, studs, boots and ruffles. Here are some of our top picks from high street to luxe for this months Whisper and Blush Lust List…
CHLOÉ SMALL NILE LEATHER BRACELET BAG |SAINT LAURENT – ROCK STITCHED SUEDE ANKLE BOOTS |Tom Ford Fringed Jacket |’COWBOYS ARE COOL’ EMBROIDERED SLOGAN SWEATSHIRT | DOUBLE D RANCHWEAR COWGIRL HAT |DUNE SASSIES MICRO CHAIN TASSEL BAG |ASOS RIVA LEATHER WESTERN BOOTS | French Connection Jacket | TOPSHOP GINGHAM FRILL WRAP MINI SKIRT
The Chloe Nile bag is THE bag of the season. I have to admit at first I was a little unsure of the bracelet handle but now I am TOTALLY behind it. These bags are super hard to get hold of but at the time of writing this pink number is still available. As not everyone is blessed with so much disposable income to put towards a bag (myself included, sadly) I found this much more budget friendly bag from Dune. The Tassel gives a nod to cowboy without being too much and I deliberately wanted to stay clear of a copy of the Nile bag.
I am so obsessed with fringed jackets at the moment and this one from Tom Ford is amazing! It’s definitely an investment piece (it is Tom Ford after all), but this is now half price! For a less pricy alternative (and one that’s also half price) try this honey coloured suede jacket from French Connection.
Gingham makes me think of cowboys, though I’m not sure why? Maybe it’s a Little House on the Prarie thing, anyway as far as ruffles and gingham go, this little Topshop skirt is a winner. Teamed with a white T-shirt and boots. Perfect!
This sweater via Not On The Highstreet basically sums up everything I said about Cowboys. They are cool. ‘Nuff said !
And finally, no Country and Western post would be complete without featuring a cowboy hat and this one is pretty damn awesome (if very expensive – ooops!)
